TRACKLIST
A FEW WORDS
Perth’s premiere power poppers RINEHEARTS have today released their new single – a fab cover of the Falling Joys’ 1988 #1 Australian Independent Singles chart-topper “You’re in a Mess”.
The popular Canberra/Sydney jangle-poppers Falling Joys are one of countless Australian bands from the era that have inspired Rinehearts.
“We love 80’s Australian bands like The Falling Joys, Stems, Scientists and we’re big fans of that era of Australian music, it’s classic stuff,” says Rinehearts mainman Benny J Ward. “We loved the Even “Down the shops” cover LP release too and thought bugger it let’s do a song ”
“We threw a heap of ideas around and Mitch actually landed on ‘You’re in a Mess’. We all listened and agreed, I did a rough version of it in the studio to see if giving it the Rinehearts treatment would work and it sure does. It’s a nice feeling when you know your own band’s sound, I feel like the chord structure is similar to one of our own songs too. We recorded the song in Pink House and Olga Sigurthorsdottir of Lonesome Dove was nice enough to sing on the track, she’s got such a great voice and perfect for the part… Hopefully The Falling Joys dig it!”
The new single follows Rinehearts’ internationally acclaimed Dom Mariani-produced album Full Bloom and is released on the eve of the band’s show with Dom’s legendary band The Stems (Friday September 6 at the Freo Social) and comes ahead of the group’s latest shows guesting as show opener for the Hoodoo Gurus (Dec 12/13/14th at The Astor Theatre).
