Cheersquad Records & Tapes announce the September 8th re-issue of “I Listen to the Night”, the seminal double Aria nominated classic, and first studio album from renowned Australian musicians Matt Walker and Ashley Davies.

“I Listen To The Night” introduced a brand of blues telepathy that Walker and Davies used so effectively live to mesmerize their then growing audience. Two players so capable, yet given to restraint via a total in respect of the music and each other’s performance within. 

“Ashley and I played together for years, but this is where it started”, recalls Walker. “Well not really, it all started with us playing in bars at 3am, but this is when we made our stamp – our first album. It was this album that got our asses overseas. To play in bars at 3am.”

Following the 1997 release of their first album I Listen To The Night, Matt and Ashley enjoyed a wave of popularity, and word got out about their dynamic, and often freeform live shows. They toured with artists such as John Hammond Junior, T-Model Ford, Bob Dylan/Patti Smith tour, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Cowboy Junkies, Cat Power, Gillian Welch, etc
